London
[ ]Grimmauld Place
The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black is hidden between numbers eleven and thirteen on Grimmauld Place, London, a twenty minutes' walk from the King's Cross railway station. Where the order of the Phoenix meets and discusses the situations. Occasionally has non-order members inside.

[ ]The Ministry of Magic (10 sub-boards)
The Ministry of Magic is located somewhere just below the surface of downtown London. To get to the Ministry, you must head for an old shabby telephone booth down in a small graffiti filled alleyway. Once you get inside, pick up the receiver, hold it above your head, and dial five numbers (only given to those who work at the minstry). The voice of the receptionist fills the air. She first tells you to state your name and business. When you have been approved, you get a small silver badge that lists your name and business as stated. You are then told, if you are a visitor, to submit to a search and present your wand for registration at the security desk, which is at the far end of the Atrium. Then the telephone booth begins to descend like an elevator, finally arriving in a magnificent mahogany-panelled entrance hall with a highly polished, dark wood floor. Welcome to the Ministry of Magic.

[ ]St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries
St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is the wizarding hospital located in the heart of Muggle London, England. Patients go to St. Mungo's for a wide variety of reasons, ranging from common illnesses like dragon pox to more complicated ailments like spell damage and werewolf bites. Like all aspects of the wizarding world, St. Mungo's is hidden in plain site, disguised as a dilapidated, red-brick department store that muggles see but largely ignore. Wizards or witches who are unable to reach St. Mungo's by magical transportation can enter through Purge and Dowse, Ltd. To muggles, Purge and Dowse Ltd. is nothing more than a rundown, old-fashioned department store that is always closed for refurbishment. The "store" boasts a window display containing "a few chipped dummies with their wigs askew, standing at random and modeling fashions at least ten years out of date" (OotP, p 483). By leaning in and talking to one of the unsightly dummies, patients and visitors can gain access to the hospital, stepping directly through the magical store front and into St. Mungo's reception area. St. Mungo's has no doctors. Instead, the witches and wizards who care for patients at St. Mungo's are called Healers and they are trained in the magical art of healing others. Hospital staff members wear lime green robes with the embroidered symbol of a crossed bone and wand, the emblem of St. Mungo's.

Diagon Alley
[ ]The Leaky Cauldron
On this road, to Muggle eyes at least, a big book shop stands next to a record store. The sharp-eyed wizard will note, however, that there is a building neatly nestled in between, and this is the Leaky Cauldron. Inside it is dark and shabby, with a number of tables in the shadows of the corners and a bar. The barman is old and bald, looks something like a gummy walnut, and goes by the name of Tom.

[ ]Apothecary
This is the ideal place to buy potion ingredients, although it does smell of bad eggs and rotten cabbages inside. They sell - amongst other things - silver Unicorn horns (21 Galleons apiece), black beetle eyes (5 Knuts per scoop), and dragon liver (17 Sickles an ounce, which according to at least one customer is rather expensive). There are also barrels of slimy stuff, jars of herbs, roots and powders, along with feathers, fangs and claws.

[ ]Cauldron Shop
This is the first shop that Harry saw when he went into Diagon Alley for the first time with Hagrid. It sells all types of cauldrons, including collapsible and self-stirring ones, in copper, brass, pewter and silver.

[ ]Eeylops Owl Emporium

[ ]Florean Fortesque’s Ice-Cream Parlour
Run by Florean Fortesque, it is just what it says...an ice-cream parlour.

[ ]Flourish and Blotts
It stocks a wide range of books which are stacked to the ceiling: some leather-bound and as big as paving stones, some tiny and covered in silk, and some that have to be kept in a cage to stop them attacking passers by. They regretted their purchase of 200 copies of The Invisible Book of Invisibility when they couldn’t find them and had to take the loss on the whole lot.

[ ]Gambol and Japes Wizarding Joke Shop
Once a favourite haunt of Fred Weasley, George Weasley and Lee Jordan, who used to buy their Dr Filibuster’s Fabulous Wet-Start, No-Heat Fireworks there. Now direct competition to Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes.

[ ]Gringotts
The wizard bank. The Diagon Alley branch is a snowy-white building that towers over the other shops. It has burnished bronze doors, and its staff is made up entirely of Goblins. Gringott’s differs from other banks in that instead of investing the money deposited by its customers, it simply places it in locked vaults located in a series of catacombs below the building. Therefore when you return to collect your money, you get exactly the same coins back that you left there. And you don’t get any interest. On the plus side, Gringotts is deemed impossible to steal from.

[ ]Junk Shop
This is a tiny shop full of broken wands, bent sets of brass scales, and second-hand cloaks covered in potion stains. Percy did find a copy of “Prefects Who Gained Power” there though.

[ ]Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions
This shop is the place to buy your Hogwarts uniform, and presumably robes for all other purposes as well. Each set of robes is made to measure, although this process doesn’t take particularly long. Madam Malkin herself is a squat, smiley witch with a preference for dressing in mauve.

[ ]Magical Menagerie
This is the place to go for any type of Hogwarts pet, including Owls, although they have some competition from Eeylops on this front. Inside, the shop is smelly and very noisy, as cages line the walls from top to bottom and very few of the animals inside are of a quiet persuasion. As well as Owls you can get purple toads, Fire Crabs, Streelers, self-transfiguring rabbits, cats, ravens, Puffskeins, rats and probably a lot more besides. And if you’re ever having trouble with your double-ended newts, this is just the place to give you some advice.

[ ]Obscurus Books
Publishers of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” by Newt Scamander. Their offices are listed as being at 18a Diagon Alley, London. This confirms Diagon’s Alley’s physical location as being in the London area.

[ ]Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands Since 382BC
Probably the only suppliers of wands to the British wizarding population, as everybody seems to have got theirs from here. Mr Ollivander is a slightly strange old man with silvery eyes, which in Harry’s opinion are rather creepy. He also has a remarkable memory, being able to remember every wand he ever sold. The shop itself is tiny, with walls lined from floor to ceiling with wand boxes. Mr Ollivander attends to each customer himself, handing them a succession of wands until the optimum match for the wizard in question is found.

[ ]Quality Quidditch Supplies
This shop is always guaranteed to have a crowd of gawping young witches and wizards hanging around it, as it stocks (amongst other things) the latest and most advanced Quidditch broomsticks that Galleons can buy. In 1991 this was the Nimbus 2000, whilst in 1993 this had been superseded by the Firebolt. If you needed to ask the price, you couldn’t afford it.

[ ]Second-Hand Robes
Nothing is known about this shop apart from the fact that Ginny was bought her first set of Hogwarts robes from here.

[ ]Stationers
There is a shop next door to Quality Quidditch Supplies which sells ink and parchment, which Hermione thinks infinitely more fascinating than broomsticks.

[ ]Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes
The new shop set up by Fred and George Weasley to sell their joke products. Headless Hats, Puking Pastilles, Portable Swamps, Canary Creams and a vast selection of fireworks are all on sale here, having been carefully tested on a string of gullible Hogwarts students during the twins’ last year at the school.

Knockturn Alley
[ ]Borgin and Burkes
Borgin and Burkes is run by the oily Mr Borgin (although presumably there is also a Mr Burke who has not yet appeared), a stooping man with greasy hair and pince-nez. The shop sells a variety of Dark Arts equipment, including the Hand of Glory, an assortment of human bones, a hangman’s rope, and an array of leering masks that line the walls. Mr Borgin both buys and sells goods, although despite his greasy manner he may not be as fond of his Dark clientele as he makes out.

Hogsmeade
[ ]The Three Broomsticks
A more popular inn than the Hog's Head, the Three Broomsticks sits on the High Street. It is often warm, crowded, and a bit smoky—but clean and welcoming. A mirror behind the bar reflects the cosy atmosphere, and drinks are served in glasses and in pewter tankards. Madam Rosmerta, the pretty and stylish owner, has been at the Three Broomsticks for at least twenty years.

[ ]Hog's Head
he Hog's Head sits at the end of a side street, marked by a sign depicting a boar's head dripping blood onto a white cloth. When the wind blows, the sign squeaks on its rusted bracket. The inn has only one room for the bar. Dirt is packed over the stone floor and hardly any sunshine filters through the filthy bay windows. The room is dimly lit by candle stumps on each wooden table. A goaty odor permeates the whole place. As the glasses and bottles are very dirty, and 'cleaned' with very dirty rags, some patrons will bring their own beverage receptacles. The bar boasts an old wooden till which opens and closes magically. Aberforth Dumbledore is the barman

[ ]Madam Puddifoot's
This tea shop is popular with young couples on Hogsmeade weekends. A small shop located on a side street, it tends to be a bit stuffy inside due to the crowds. The windows steam up and the gaudy tables and chairs are all claimed by teenagers holding hands or kissing over cups of tea and coffee. A bell over the door announces customers; the round tables are decorated with lacy napkins and (undoubtedly flowered) china sugar bowls. Madam Puddifoot, naturally, owns the shop and serves the customers.

[ ]Honeydukes
Honeydukes, the sweetshop, is nearly everyone's favourite. Located on the High Street of Hogsmeade, it also can be reached by secret passage from Hogwarts. The passage begins at the one-eyed witch statue in the middle of the third-floor hallway. At the word 'Dissendium,' the hump on her back opens to reveal a tunnel. The underground passage ends with a trapdoor into Honeydukes' cellar, where extra crates of candy are kept.

[ ]Zonko's Joke Shop
Zonko's is another High Street shop, a purveyor of Dungbombs, Stink Pellets, Belch Powder, Hiccup Sweets, Whizzing Worms, Frog Spawn Soap, Nose-Biting Teacups, and Fanged Frisbees.

[ ]Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop
Also located on the High Street. Inside are rows of assorted copper ink pots and quills, from pheasant feathers to decadent black and gold ones.

[ ]Gladrags Wizardwear
Gladrags presumably sells robes, cloaks, and the like, but we primarily know it as a good place to buy wild and crazy socks.

[ ]Dervish and Banges
This shop sells and repairs magical equipment, such as Sneakoscopes. It is located at the end of the High Street on the road leading to the edge of Hogsmeade.

[ ]Post Office
The Hogsmeade Post Office boasts at least three hundred owls perched on shelves. Various breeds and sizes are available, depending on the speed needed for delivery, and they wear colour-coded bands accordingly. The smallest are the palm-sized Scops, (like Pigwidgeon) and the biggest the Post Office boasts are the Great Greys (like an Errol in his prime). The Post Office is located on the High Street.

[ ]Shrieking Shack
The most haunted place in Britain! Situated somewhat uphill from central Hogsmeade, the ruined house is avoided by the villagers, Hogwarts ghosts, and even Fred and George, who have given up trying to get in through the boarded windows and doors. If anyone were to get inside, they would be surprised at what they saw: stains everywhere, bite marks on furniture, other pieces of furniture shattered. The interior of the Shack bears evidence to a much more physical haunting than any ghosts are capable of, although it also shows signs of disuse--peeling wallpaper and a blanket of dust over everything. The Shrieking Shack is connected to Hogwarts by a secret passage that leads from under the base of the Whomping Willow to an opening in the floor of the main room downstairs. From this main room, there's a hallway leading to a decrepit staircase. There are several rooms upstairs, one of which is a master bedroom with a once-grand four-poster bed.

Other Places
[ ]Azkaban
Azkaban is the horrible wizard’s prison where witches and wizards are incarcerated for their crimes. Located on a tiny island in the freezing waters of the North Sea, Azkaban is not like muggle prisons that rely on iron bars and heavy security to keep their prisoners in line. Instead, Azkaban has some of the most fearsome creatures on earth guarding its prisoners; dementors.

[ ]Beauxbatons Academy of Magic
Beauxbatons is thought to be located in Southern France, possibly along the Mediterranean. The majority of students and the headmistress, Madame Olympe Maxime, speak French, and seem to enjoy food from that specific region, such as bouillabaisse. They are certainly accustomed to warmer weather than what they encounter at Hogwarts. Beauxbatons uniforms are made of light blue silk, and the school coat of arms is two golden wands crossed over one another, each shooting three stars.

[ ]Durmstrang Institue
Durmstrang was founded over seven hundred years ago. In the centuries since, it has developed a reputation for an intolerance of Muggle-borns and an emphasis on the Dark Arts. It is Unplottable and hidden from Muggles and wizards from rival institutions, but Durmstrang is thought to be in Northeastern Europe. The weather at Durmstrang is cold, and the days in winter are very short, while in summer they're very long. The castle is near lakes and mountains, which the students enjoy during warmer months. Most students' names sound Eastern European, though they seem to speak English primarily. The Durmstrang castle has only four floors and is generally cool and dark. The fires are only lit when needed for magic, so students wear warm uniforms; deep red robes covered by thick fur capes. The castle is probably sparsely furnished, as the Durmstrang delegation was so impressed with Hogwarts' starry ceiling and gold dishes. In spite of their spartan surroundings within the Durmstrang castle, however, students there have a great deal of freedom; they are permitted to fly over the extensive grounds. Because of their training and interest in Dark Magic, the Durmstrang students share a bond with Slytherin House. Students at the Institute learn curses and jinxes, rather than just how to defend themselves against them. Durmstrang only admits Purebloods. For several years the Headmaster was a former Death Eater, Igor Karkaroff.

[ ]Godric's Hollow
It is widely believed that the name “Godric’s Hollow” is a direct reference to Godric Gryffindor, the founder of the Hogwarts house. Further details can also be deduced from known information. As Hogsmeade is known to be the only pure wizarding town in Britian, we can infer that Godric’s Hollow is a Muggle village. It is also known that James and Lily were living as Muggles in a two story cottage in the village in the period of time before they were murdered by Voldemort. The location of Godric’s Hollow has often been assumed to be somewhere in Wales, as Hagrid refers to the baby Harry falling asleep over Bristol when he was transporting him to Privet Drive (which is in Surrey). This journey, however, was from an unknown location (not Godric’s Hollow itself) where Harry had been taken after the murder of his parents. This may or may not have been in the vicinity of Godric’s Hollow, and so no details about the location of the village can be inferred from this. The only other person has to have lived in Godric’s Hollow was a man named Bowman Wright. He lived there in the mid 1300’s – indicating the age of the village if nothing else – and it was he who invented the Golden Snitch.
